Portrait of Caroline Mesquita.

Born in Brest in 1989, Caroline Mesquita is a French sculptor and video artist who lives and works between Marseille and Le Drennec, in Brittany. She is a graduate of the École régionale des Beaux-Arts de Rennes, the Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Mountain School of Art in Los Angeles. In 2017, she won the 19th Pernod Ricard Foundation Prize. She has exhibited at the Blaffer Art Museum (Houston), PIVO (Sao Paulo), Fondazione Pomodoro (Milan), Centre d’art Passerelle (Brest), Galeria Municipal do Porto (Porto), Kunsthalle Lissabon (Lisbon) and the Centre Pompidou (Paris). Her approach comprises two main aspects: the creation of sculptures, mainly in metal, and the animation of these sculptures in stop-motion videos. Caroline Mesquita is represented by galleries T293 (Rome), Union Pacific (London) and Carlier | Gebauer (Berlin, Madrid).
