After obtaining a master&#8217;s degree in philosophy, he studied for two years at the Beaux-Arts de Paris where he met Christian Boltanski, who guided him in the making of his first films. In 2007, he gained recognition with the release of &#8220;Chroniques&#8221;, depicting the lives and dreams of five characters born in 1980. He co-directed &#8220;Commissariat&#8221; with Ilan Klipper in 2010. In 2009, his short film &#8220;Thermidor&#8221; was selected for the Quinzaine des cin\u00e9astes at the Cannes Film Festival. That same year, his documentary feature &#8220;Autoproduction&#8221;, following the shooting of a film in Belleville, was presented at the Cinema du R\u00e9el festival in Paris. The following year at Cannes, his short film &#8220;Pandore, depicting the entrance of a Parisian nightclub, was screened as part of the ACID selection. Continuing to create numerous short films such as &#8220;Orl\u00e9ans&#8221;, &#8220;Andore&#8221;, &#8220;Vega&#8221;, and &#8220;Iron Maiden&#8221;, Virgil Vernier directed his first feature film, &#8220;Mercuriales&#8221;, in 2014.
